IndieSteps Studio exists to help parents of children ages 2–5 support more independent play through simple ideas, practical guidance, and small steps that fit everyday family life.
Behind the small steps
You set out an activity for your child. A moment later, you hear, “Come play with me.”
You want to encourage their curiosity, but you also need a moment to finish something or simply catch your breath. Between choosing what to try, deciding how much to help, and knowing when to step back, there can be a lot to figure out.
These everyday moments are at the heart of IndieSteps Studio. Our aim is to give parents a clear starting point and practical support as they discover what works for their child and their family.
What we believe
Connection comes first.
Giving your child more space doesn’t mean pulling away. You can stay close, offer reassurance, share in their play, and help when they need you.
Simple is a good place to start.
Play doesn’t have to be complicated. Familiar materials from around the house and a simple idea can be enough to help your child begin exploring and playing.
Every child has their own pace.
We encourage parents to notice their child’s interests, consider what they need in the moment, and adjust their support accordingly. There is no single pace that suits every child.
